These local historical and genealogical books are full of information but be wary when using them for genealogical purposes. Like the later Beers books, the genealogical material was mostly on subscription; that is, people paid to have their families histories, mostly from recollections and family-held documents, included in the book. We all know how memories can slip away or get corrupted. While you may find many hints in these paragraphs, be SURE to back up the facts with other documents, such as Census and Military records, Church records, and Court House records. Quite a few mistakes have been found in the information.
